INTERNSHIP PROCESS AND CRITERIA

The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery program includes a mandatory one-year rotatory internship to be completed after successful completion of four and a half years of academic study. The internship is conducted as per the regulations of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine and the norms of the concerned university or state council.

Eligibility for Internship

A student must have successfully passed all professional examinations of the BAMS course, covering all subjects from the first year to the final year, to be eligible to commence the internship.

Provisional Registration

Before starting the internship, the student must obtain provisional registration from the concerned State Board or Council for Indian System of Medicine, as applicable.

Orientation Program

At the commencement of the internship, interns undergo an orientation program to familiarize themselves with internship rules, responsibilities, clinical conduct, and training structure. This may include modules prescribed by NCISM, such as SHISHIKSHA.

Rotatory Clinical Training

The one-year internship is conducted on a rotational basis across various clinical departments of the Ayurvedic teaching hospital. Training may also include exposure to allied and modern medical services as prescribed by NCISM guidelines, ensuring comprehensive clinical experience.

Logbook and Work Record

Interns are required to maintain a daily logbook or workbook documenting clinical duties, procedures performed, and learning activities. The logbook must be regularly verified and certified by the respective departmental supervisors.

Completion and Award of Degree

On successful completion of the full one-year internship and after certification by the Principal of the college, the candidate becomes eligible for the award of the Ayurvedacharya degree in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
